Elsewhere on the BPTGroup site we argue strongly that a sound business strategy must acknowledge the end-game of creating the process-centric organisation. That objective requires the development of a “strategy for change” to which the leadership commit resources and acknowledge the likely timescale of such a radical transformation.

The nature of transformational change requires organisations to be serious in their intent to determine the extent of the change required; to that end they have to be honest and aware as to where they are starting from on the process journey. This understanding applies to:

  • the current state and preparedness of the organisation in its current structure to make the transformation
  • the quality and availability of business change expertise needed to define, design and implement the most appropriate end-to-end and support processes
  • the expertise of management within the organisation to manage the processes in the new structure
